Edit also instantly got a paper cut removing it from my mailbox. Their god obviously hates me.

Waco was the Branch Davidians who were a doomsday branch of 7DA since like the 50’s. If I recall a podcast I listened to about them, 7DA did not consider them part of the church for quite some time.

That's funny! Average minds think alike!

My cousins were Mormon, and back when they were doing mission trips, it turned out that the highest conversion rates they were getting were in Utah, specifically in Salt Lake city. The church had just assumed everyone was Mormon and want proselytizing there. I can see a similar thinking here, that the least religious state is a great place to gin up some converts. It could potentially be pretty fertile ground.

I had a similar thought, that my anti-theism had been "discovered" (in not particularly quiet about it). But alas, someone with deep pockets is gaining entry into the imaginary afterlife. Good for them.

As for needing Jesus, you're probably doing just fine without him. He was clearly a socialist, so maybe Republicans need Jesus, but i think we're doing pretty alright on our own.

I threw mine right in the bin, everyone in my town got one too and the various uses of the book are becoming more and more creative. I think one neighbor is using it to make paper mache!

I'll give benefit of the doubt here and assume this is a serious question.

Rarely is life so black and white that some is good or bad. Is burning a book in and of itself a "bad" thing? I think no (apologies, librarians!) This book is no more important to me than any other junk mail i get, so i see no problem in burning one book, by myself, in my stove. Just as i wouldn't give a fig if you took a book, any book, and burned it in your stove.

Where i see book burning becoming problematic is when it is used to incite a group against another group. Intentionally seeking out a book, be it dr. Seuss, the talmud, the koran, to kill a mockingbird, or any of the myriad books that folks have chosen to burn, en masse, over the years, is very different than having a book foisted on you. Book burning rallies are often an attempt to "other" a specific, usually minority, group, to dehumanize them and their culture and often to incite violence towards them.

What i have done here isn't that. I haven't called for violence, nor persecution of the the 7th day Adventists. Instead, i view this as a transgression on the part of the 7th day Adventists. As the aggressors here, they chose to send this to me and, in a small act of self-defense, I've chosen to burn this piece of shit. I'm not seeking out other copies to burn, nor advocating the eradication of 7th day Adventists and their thinking through violence. This is the difference between burning a book in my stove and holding a klan rally book burning.

I have a wood stove chipper if you've got any old ones that need chipping. I also have chipper stove wood, also. it's super upbeat and chatty until you put it in. Then it kind of screams and it makes me a little sad. Warm and sad.
