A few years ago I got pulled over and issued a ticket with a >$100 fine for a very out-of-date inspection sticker (no other violations). The cop said that if I didn't pay it within the set time period my license would get suspended (and he mentioned something about a possible future warrant for my arrest, maybe if I ignored the suspension, but I forget the exact context).
