Get him some ski lessons. Key to surviving VT winters are to get out and enjoy them.

Something not yet listed - a magnetic windshield cover if he’s bringing a car. Those first mornings are ROUGH after it’s snowed and not having to dig out your windshield because you can just pull off the cover helps.

Yak Trax. Don't slip on the ice. Ruins the whole season when you bust your wrist.

Tickets to visit you/whoever in AZ in February. I visit my in-laws in Scottsdale every winter and it is the perfect time to be in AZ and to not be in VT.

LOL. I grew up in Florida and had never seen snow. From Miami to Vermont as a teenager. What a culture shock! I even thought about running away. 😭

Hey man! I’m from Flagstaff,AZ and now I live in VT. Jacket: Canadá goose or similar (worth the investment) ,Thermal underwear Darn tough socks, Pack vitamin D supplements, Snow tires, And a winter hobby ( snow shoeing, skiing, etc…) The later is so important for your mental health you have no idea. Last but not least a quick trip to Florida in February or March helps and makes the winter more tolerable.

It just takes a bit of time. Bundle up in November but by February you're wearing a sweater at 10 degrees. Really, it happens.

Its really not that cold tbh. Just dark. I'd get him entertainment for the long nights.

Skis or snowboard, snowshoes…things to get him outside enjoying the fresh cold crisp mountain air.

Snowshoes or cross country skis. Having outdoor exercise in the winter is so important. It's very hard to learn Alpine skiing as an adult and can be pretty pricey.xc/snowshoe has much less recurring cost and is less skill dependent
