I mean Vermont is a French name, so perhaps conflating it with Canada isn’t so unreasonable. The changed spelling is curious though 😁

This makes me feel a few things. Most happy, except the Vertmont maple coming from Canada.

they're using our brand to sell the third-rate cartel shit. pretty straight-forward.

Japanese Vermont curry, though? That might take an afternoon or two to unpack.

The r in a circle means the Canada Maple Syrup people registered “Vermont” as a trademark?

"product of Canada" Meaning it was bottled in Vermont with Canadian syrup. So not real Vermont syrup. And yes there is a difference.

Also, that’s a “red maple” leaf not a sugar maple leaf

Yes, it's incredible our little state somehow has a stronger brand internationally than Quebec, or maybe even Canada? That can't be true, but why don't they play up Canada's brand and good will? I've seen a very similar label in a normal grocery store in Sweden. We're kind of getting screwed here, but that they wanted to use our reputation is flattering!

I'd wonder if it is really fake maple syrup as well.

It's actually bottled in Denmark and "Vertmont" is a Danish brand of Canada made maple syrup. That's why it says "stats kontrolleret økologisk", it means government controlled ecological, in the bottom. Everything claiming to be ecological has to go through government in Denmark, like everything else really.

They sell it all over Europe. Their website descriptions point out that Vertmont means green mountain and mentions that the best maple syrup comes from Vermont and the North Eastern regions of Canada.

I'm a Dane and I live in single-t Vermont

It originally was Vert Mont then the T was dropped and the other two words were put together to make it “Vermont” I learned this in teaching my kids about Vermont from homeschooling

*edit to fix “Month”
