I’m making the trip up to Woodstock this weekend and I’m looking for any recommendations on what to do while I’m there. Looking for any streets/centers with good shopping, any bars/restaurants (will be there during the day), any good hiking places or museums. It will be my first time in Vermont so I’m open to anything. Thanks!

Our local theater in Barnard is doing a production of The Addams Family that sold out all last weekend if you're into local theater. There's a bar in Bethel called Babe's that does fun events on the weekends like karaoke or themed dance parties. In Woodstock there's a few good places for food and a relatively easy hike up Mt Tom from Faulkner Park. Even more good food in White River Junction. Be prepared to drive around the various small towns in the upper valley area if you want to see and experience different things. Everything is 20mins from everything else.

Billings Farm for museum. Mt Tom for hiking. Wander around the shops for a little bit. That’s about it. Long Trail Brewing in Bridgewater if you’re into beer.

Harpoon in Windsor; Hartland Diner; White River Junction has several good restaurants and cafes. Woodstock itself has the Billings Farm & Museum, but otherwise, IMO, Woodstock is very picturesque and precious, but there's not much to do.

Woodstock is expensive and a tourist trap! Hartland Diner, Big Fatties in Downtown White River if you're looking for BBQ, but other excellent food as well.

Yeah, get away from Woodstock and go see the real Vermont

Woodstock is a bit touristy, but OP is a tourist. There’s a reason so many people flock to it - easily one of the top towns I’d recommend to anyone visiting.

Fair enough! Gotta admit when I visited places like Chicago and Albuquerque last year for the first time, I wanted to see touristy places too. But I also like to get a taste of what lies beneath the glitter as well.

Totally - Woodstock is a great “intro to Vermont” visit before going a little deeper :)

Do you have any recommendations for where to go? I live in CT and I’m looking to go for a day trip

In Southern Vermont, explore Brattleboro, the old mill town of Springfield, Chester, White River Jct... all interesting places that aren't the "tourist version " of Vermont. Find all the towns in between, follow the rivers, grab lunch at a small store in a small town.

CHESTER! It's beautiful foliage has kind of gone by, though. Drive route 100, beautiful!

Hartland Diner for breakfast. 100% local ingredients from scratch every single day.

Harpoon Brewery in Windsor for lunch. Check out the surrounding shops.

Angkor Wat Restaurant in Woodstock for dinner.

You won't be disappointed.

Worthy Kitchen. Also as others have said Billings Farm is very cool. The Quechee gorge is nice for a quick stop and the Vermont Institute of natural sciences is right nearby and they’ve got some pretty cool birds to look at.

Hope you enjoy your time in the Upper Valley! Lots of good recommendations so far. You might consider the Dartmouth campus just across the border in NH as well, which has the Hood Museum of Art and it’s Homecoming weekend so there’ll be a huge bonfire on the Green. Quite a sight! Downtown White River Jct has some great spots to eat, especially Tuckerbox for some awesome Turkish food. In Woodstock check out Angkor Wat some amazing Asian fusion cuisine. Gile Mountain in Norwich is a nice hike with a fire tower for some amazing above the trees views. Sadly you’ve missed peak foliage but it’s still gorgeous in our area!
