End of October is going to be pretty chilly. Mansfield had 2-3 inches of snow this past weekend and most of the ski resorts will be open for the season making snow. I hope you are prepared for winter camping. It requires different gear and protections for basic safety.

A lot of shelters and other sites will be pre-booked and not much may be available.

Im always in the opinion of. If you have to ask these basic questions about trail etiquette. You should probably go in the summer a few times first until you are comfortable.

Which shelters? I’m not familiar with ones around Mansfield but ones on the LT near sugarbush mad river etc. I doubt would be occupied end of October. There’s just not all that many people camping in the cold.
