Birds of prey are so cool. Does anyone know a good way to learn about falconry?

(In David Tennant’s 10th doctor voice)I am sorry, so, so, sorry… but you will need to deploy that bird at some point

The Woodstock Inn has falconry! They have the birds just outside the village. I think you can go there and see/do it. I also know of a few falconers in Orange County, but they’re private citizens who have falcons.

You can age then fairly reliably by eye color. Yellow is a juvenile, this looks like. Second year, and they get redder with age. I would have to see a retained upper tail covert to be sure of it being a second year though.

Interesting! We’ve got a bunch of them here. They have to be one of the dumber hawks I’ve been around. About every couple months one will get into the barn and not be able to get out. Another time one came down our chimney

Posting a pic of a hawk to distract from politics moments after we out-voted a literal eagle fucker? Savage.
