I grew up in MI and it has always been slightly more blue than red. Republicans in the state have tended to be fiscal conservatives and socially liberal. It isn’t surprising to me that it passed.

I have family in MI and you hit the nail on the head. They are fiscally conservative but quite socially liberal. That being said, they are against abortion (because Jesus).

Most of the Republicans I know here in Michigan are diehard Maga cultists, but I live in rural Trump country, so ymmv
