Hey all,

I'm looking to see if there is a restaurant near Montpelier / Barre that I could order a Thanksgiving dinner for take out on Thanksgiving day.

Ideally, I would like to drive up there Thanksgiving morning and pick up a couple dinners that I could drop off for my Mother and Father in-law. It's about a 4 hour trip from where we live and would not want to bring something from home. They are still very careful about Covid so I just want to drive up there, pick up the dinners near by and drop them off at their house 'hot'.

Not on Thanksgiving Day, but for anyone else interested Hunger Mountain Co-Op in Montpelier has a hot bar through tomorrow (Wed) 11am-6pm with Thanksgiving style food. Thanksgiving Food

I heard The Quarry in Barre is doing a Thanksgiving dinner in the evening. Idk any other details, but I’m sure you could call and find out more.

Most restaurants and food places are closed on Thanksgiving day in Montpelier. I've tried in the past to find a place to go out, it's not happening.

Following. I will be alone that day, family meal is later in the weekend. This post just made me realize I may be eating cereal on Thursday night, LOL.

You’re gonna have a tough time finding a respectable establishment that’s got their employees working on thanksgiving.

Please don’t go to restaurants on thanksgiving if they are open. Those people don’t want to be there, they want to be with their friends and families like everyone else

As a former bartender, I hate to break it to you, but that’s not the case.

Than don’t work, if they’ll fire you over that fuck em. Everywhere’s hiring. Every place I ever worked at holidays were optional, and we ended up having to divvy them up as we would fight over who got the tips.

I mean, like I said, if you don’t like your job get a different one. Not to be an asshole, I’ve worked with many cooks I respect the shit out of. But you know what you’re getting into. Regardless, literally everywhere is hiring right now. If you didn’t want to work tomorrow you should have spoken up, if you got fired for speaking up than fuck em.

I appreciate what you're saying. There definitely are some that are forced to work that day. Maybe a family owned restaurant would be more likely to have employees that want to be there.

All that aside, I've personally worked almost every Thanksgiving from the time I was 35 till I was 50. I didn't mind being there, though I'm also not working a job I don't like to begin with and the double time and a half in the following paycheck was quite nice to get just before the holiday's. There are also people out there that love having an excuse NOT to be with family all day.
