My office is in Stowe and haven’t been here often since going wfh, but a middle eastern place called Aladdin recently came to town and I’m here to say it’s best falafel and pita I’ve ever had, this place is legit and worth a trip to Stowe for. It’s seems expensive at 13.50 but the thing weighed and could easily feed 2 people unless they are me. I almost ate it all

Yup. I live on the Jeff side and my Stowe days are done for the year lol.
A few Octobers ago we got married at Boyden in Cambridge and most of the out of town folks stayed at Smuggs. A few disregarded our advice and opted for the swankier ameneties of Stowe since "it's so close!"
Well imagine their surprise when they wake up and realize the road they took last night is now closed and their 20 minute scenic drive to the venue is now close to an hour through VT roads that they aren't used to.

This place slaps. I’ve traveled to Israel, Palestine, and Jordan, and this place is probably the best falafel and hummus I’ve had outside of those countries

Food doesn’t slap

They didn't technically say the food slaps, they said the place does.

Food can absolutely slap (and their food probably does)

Who the hell makes this type of dumb complaint

- A place can not slap either
- Food can smack. It can’t slap.
- Someone who comes from the bay where slap began being used as a slang word and now people use it incorrectly. Music slaps. Food smacks. This state is a “bubble” in the worst ways. I shouldn’t expect any of you who call this home to actually understand the difference between the two words when used as slang.

My apologies! When you told someone they were using the word incorrectly I didn't realize you were from the place where people originally started using that word incorrectly.

Thanks for the suggestion I'll check it out! Little place in Brownsville called butcher and pantry has killer falafel too. Nice find.

Best falafel and hummus I've ever had is in Brattleboro, it's called Yalla. Owned by an Israeli, all homemade stuff you should check it out if you're into falafel.

The food is fantastic from what I’ve heard but the owner (not chef) is a total jackass and has multiple conflicts and lawsuits from the restaurant that used to be there, pk coffee, and other businesses in the gale farm center

Wait, what? I work in Stowe but I book it home (an hour away) when I’m done. How haven’t I heard of this though?!

Can't wait for the spring so that I can drive there in 20mins rather than an hour to try it out lol.
Is there some sort of actual significance to the name Aladdin? Or are they just capitalizing off of Disney?
hotseltzer t1_iyegp0y wrote
There's a big chain of restaurants called Aladdin's Eatery, and another locally owned Aladdin's Natural Eatery in Rochester, NY. It's a common name for Middle Eastern/Mediterranean restaurants.
whaletacochamp t1_iyevncr wrote
Only makes me wonder even more if there’s an actual cultural reason for that or if they are all just like “ehh these amaeicans know that Aladdin is middle eastern so we’ll call it Aladdin’s”
