I am making the rounds. But I can only spend so much money and only have so much time to get to these places. At this time I think I'm only 6 places deep and Vermont reddit has given me a list of like 30 places and counting (thanks all). This is what I have for you at this time (List under the photo). All of the reviews can be seen on my YouTube channel (Review Time With Tim) under Burgers of Vermont on my play list. Please support me if you like. Thanks everyone this community has been amazing.

Literally just came into the comments to make sure Burger Barn was represented.

Just posted this. Unbeatable, undisputed #1. Any Vermont burger joint list with out Burger Barn listed is questionable.

You can’t say you’ve tried the best burgers in Vermont and not have tried Worthy Burger.

The worthy burger in South Royalton is pretty good imo.

Worthy Burger slaps. There is one in Warren as well.

the_ocean t1_iy3okne wrote

It was in Waitsfield (Irasville) and it closed thanks to the impossibility of finding housing for staff in the Mad River Valley. It was awesome while it lasted though!

PeteDontCare t1_iy3q2wj wrote

That's why it's necessary to hire locals and people already there, but in this work environment, that's proven to be futile

2

the_ocean t1_iy3rflv wrote

I don’t know if you’re a MRV local but there really aren’t enough locals who want these jobs to fill demand for restaurants - we’ve had 2 well-loved local restaurants close in the past year due to staff shortages. One of them was actually trying to build out more staff housing to make it work, but ran out of funds due to an untimely septic failure. We desperately need municipal septic, which is currently under study & will come back for vote pretty soon.

1

PeteDontCare t1_iy3rx5h wrote

No you're right, but that's exactly what I'm saying. You need to have local people employed for success, but given the current situation, that's pretty much impossible. It's not their fault, but rather unfortunate circumstances

2

the_ocean t1_iy3sbg8 wrote

Yeah absolutely. Tourism is great and all (and I moved here because I loved skiing here, I’m a flatlander), but we won’t thrive as a community if the only people who can afford it here are second-home owners, retirees, and white-collar remote workers. We desperately need infill development to bring the cost of living down.

And they now have a pot shop in the same building!

1

obiwanjabroni420 t1_iy6brs5 wrote

With ridiculously overpriced stock, unfortunately. $30 plus tax for a 10 pack of edibles? Fuck that, they’re $10 for a 20 pack in western mass.

1

hudsoncider t1_iy7waxu wrote

MA Rec shops have been open for a few years and competition has brought the price down. While I agree with your argument, $35 for an 1/8th is not a bad starting price compared to what the starting price of 1/8ths in MA was. Also Woodstock is a lot more touristy compared to western MA. Prices will come down. Also I wouldn’t buy edibles or pre rolls from rec shops, you are much better off making your own.

It's... Their burger is gas, but hot damn if their fried chicken sandwich isn't a fucking 11/10.

Human802 t1_iy3mbjv wrote

The burger is excellent. The chicken sandwich is exceptional. Great fires as well, and homemade donuts. So glad they opened. Please everyone check this place out, right in rt5 in Fairlee.

Three Penny

7

newsandseriousstuff t1_iy3d5pc wrote

It's a gamble. Three Penny on a good night is easily one of the best burgers I've ever had in my life. Order that same burger on an off-night, and it's a safely middle-of-the-road burger at best.

So much depends upon
A Three Penny staff schedule
Glazed with burger grease
Beside the white chickens

LauraPalmersMom430 t1_iy3eefw wrote

Idk I’ve never personally had a bad one, and find the quality pretty consistently great.

I absolutely love Poco's burger - kind of in a different category than this list, because it's a bit pricey and doesn't include sides. And I don't eat there anymore because they don't take reservations and people line up outside the fucking door before they even open, and I'm going to spare you the rant of how stupid that is.

Gotta add Archie's Grill in Shelburne! The horseradish burger is fire, fries are great, friendly folks...

Four Quarters had some good smashies when last I ate there too.

Glory Burger was great too, during food truck season - nice to see the kids stepping up.

People rave over Worthy Burger. We went mid-week on the way back from Maine once and it was okay but just okay. Not sure if it was an off day or if I'm just expecting more than most people.

I had a fantastic burger at Blue Paddle on my first visit. But my second visit wasn't as impressive, though I didn't have a burger so it might just be a spot for me to get burgers.

I've also had some tasty burgers at Twiggs, particularly the one with the bacon jam and apples. The only downfall is that sometimes the chef doesn't remove all of the apple seeds, so I've gotten in the habit of checking.

I did just have a very tasty burger up at Kraemer & Kin at the Alburgh golf course.

Two Heroes is constructing their brewpub. I'm eager to see how that will be as it will be very close for me.
