Hey y'all! I'm (24F) moving to the NEK this month to start a new job at NVU in Lyndon, but I am having a really hard time finding housing that won't break my bank. My budget is no more than $1,200/month, and the biggest thing on my wish list is to not have roommates or shared common areas. I've checked all the major websites, Craigslist, Facebook, etc. I'm also looking into surrounding areas like St. J, Burke, Danville, etc. Does anyone have any possible leads? Would greatly appreciate the help!

Not trying to be an ass but Vermonters can't find apartments. My ex wife is still living with me for instance because there's no where available around. There's a massive housing shortage here (along with everywhere else) and it's getting more and more difficult to find anything remotely worthwhile.

Yeah, I lived in Brownington over the summer and learned very quickly how little housing there is available in the area. It's why I'm asking for any advice!

It's tough. Outside of local facebook pages/Craigslist/front porch I don't know of much else to help. Best of luck.

LOL is right. I’m not sure that’s even possible right now. I guess you could get a camper? I wish you luck but you really should have researched before taking this job with your budget.

A girl can dream. I honestly think it's weird that society has normalized living with complete strangers, but I also understand there's a housing shortage. It's a wish list after all.

I’ve DM’ed you a listing that may be helpful .

You can try posting on Front Porch Forum. Also, I’ve seen a few For Rent signs down in St J. I’ll see if I can get a number next time I’m in town (Friday) Lastly, try googling Property Managers and reach out to them to see if they can help. They may have an future listing or know of someone.

Best of luck OP

All I can say to you is good luck. I understand not wanting roommates, but there really is so little housing (and an even smaller amount of housing you can actually afford) that I would think it wise to reconsider that stance.

The housing market is very tight and rentals often get snapped up before they are even advertised. Maybe reach out to the people at your new job and see if they have any leads or can help. It's a state wide problem now.
