GF has an appt there early Friday morning and I'll have a couple hours while she's in surgery.
I know there's Wayside but I didn't know if there were other spots worth recommending.
TIA

Espresso Bueno in Barre is fantastic.
Skinny Pancake, Main Street Montpelier or if a coffee shop will do, Bohemian Bakery in it’s new location nearby.
Bohemian now has arts and crafts on display and their gallettes and Kouign Amann are delicious.
(Looks like Maxi’s is 15-20 mins away up 89.)
Damn I miss Down Home.
Hope your gf has a speedy recovery.

Thanks, that bakery looks like it would hit the spot and maybe I'll pick up a Christmas gift or two also!
Man that shrimp and grits at down home, mmmmmm
Damn right. We need them back (with better management)
Surgery not wedding! :)
Oof. Got it.
Someday maybe, she's a catch!
Espresso Bueno in Barre is a good option
Red hen isn’t too far. Breakfast sandwich and coffee and a nice place to burn a little time.
Some good suggestions in here, thanks everyone!

Not sure it it's still open, but Barre had a great breakfast spot back in the day. Soups n' Greens.
Nope, long gone.
Bummer. Guessing the owners retired.
That is the only one. Other than that Waterbury for Maxis. Sorry.
*Where else can you get real breakfast. Not a bakery, not an egg sandwich, actual breakfast.?

You could definitely kill some time at Capital Grounds. Breakfast sandwich, coffee, & a Seven Days...
