They might see if they qualify for victim of crimes funds. I don’t know how to start looking, or access, but the state or fed gov might have money set aside they could access. Sounds shitty all around.

Check in with theVermont Center for Crime Victims' Services. They have a small fund, and maybe they can at least offer a little bit.

Victims Compensation doesn’t cover property. It will cover portions of things like lost wages and bills for therapy or medical bills but not property loss.
