All I can find online are historical articles when the notch has closed for the season in other years — and a few that say it’s closed November to April.
Cold temps and snow are on the way this week, but I’m hoping to drive through it one more time before the season is done!
Awesome! That’s what I was thinking — snow hasn’t fallen on the Notch yet so it should hopefully be open!

Is this a forced Reddit vocabulary or do people actually say “THE notch” to mean just one of the notches all over the area?
I don’t think anyone says “the” notch if they’re not referring to Smugglers Notch.
There’s really only one notch that gets much talk
In northeast VT, people say “the notch” to mean smuggler’s notch specifically. The portion is 108S that runs from Jeffersonville to Stowe is called “the notch road”.
I’m not sure if this extends to the rest of the state.

This doesn't mean that it's safe. Have had some white knuckle drives through it.
This is the best way to find out when it is closed. They have been known to close it and reopen it the next day.

We do go to New Hampshire. It has very nice truck stops on our way to Boston.

We wound up bailing on our north country / notch plans with the storm rolling in. Ended up having some dirt road fun down around Rutland instead, and went up Killington right before the snow started!
You can walk up there almost every day if you’re prepared
