Southwest declined service at Burlington because the city lacked a hotel right by the airport and because Southwest wanted their own terminal which isn’t possible. This was a few years ago when the previous airport head was planning to build a hotel on site or adjacent and that came to nothing.

They are supposed to be starting construction on that hotel in the next few months, according to the news story a couple months ago.

Sure it might happen, there was talk about it before the pandemic but then nothing got built.

Could be, from what I heard Southwest wasn’t impressed by the local amenities. The major sticking point was probably them not having their own terminal.
