My nephew is visiting me over christmas break and I’m hoping to take him to see snow for the first time. I was told Vermont was the place to go. We’re looking at the 23 - 27/28 of December. The town of Stowe seems to be pretty high up on all of the list of ski towns, but I just have a few questions before making any reservations - 1. The ski resorts are pretty much booked, would staying in town (Mountain Rd.) and getting a day pass for the resorts work? We have zero experience but would like to try skiing (Stowe), snow tubing (Smugglers), riding snow mobiles etc. 2. The resorts seems to be an hour apart in the winter, so I’m assuming spending a day at each resort would be the way to go?I would also like to spend a day just experiencing the town, shopping, restaurants etc. Is Stowe the right place? 3. What is the road between resorts like in the winter? Is travel doable? 4. Any other do’s/dont’s that I should know about before going?I have tried calling both resorts but couldn’t get an answer to any of these questions. If there’s somewhere else I should be asking this please let me know!

Avoid stowe on holidays. Its a traffic nightmare and everything is way too expensive. Ski tickets are over $200 a day. The mountain road becomes a 3 hour backup.
For a first time skiier I reccomend bolton or smuggs.
Also theres a very big chance of there being no snow on Christmas.
The "direct" road beteen stowe and smuggs is closed in the winter
