My fiancée and I are going to be trying out XC Skiing in a few weeks, we'll be staying in Hyde Park, and will have our dog with us. Are there any good beginner level trails in the area?

Right now, I'm considering Little River State Park, Seyon Lodge State Park, Stowe Rec Path, and the Craftsbury Center (although they only have one 2.3 km dog friendly path open right now)

I’d do the Craftsbury Outdoors center. Beautiful trails.

The Lamoille Valley Rail Trail runs along Rt 15 and has many entry points, its flat and wide, pretty easy skiing if the snow is decent. There will likely also be snowmobile traffic on it though, so be aware especially if you've got a dog along. Consider using a leash.

Though groomed for skiing the Stowe rec path gets a lot of foot traffic so may or may not be good skiing.

The XC trails at Von Trapp Family Lodge rock.

Also check out the Hardwick trails , they are located behind the high school and are groomed.

There are trails behind Morristown elementary school where the high school students practice. Just park in the lot behind the school and make your way down the hill to the woods
