Like everyone is so environmentally conscious here allegedly but would rather cut down tree and burn wood than to use a more environmentally friendly source of heat…

Wood heat is pretty environmentally friendly. As friendly as solar power with minisplits? Maybe, maybe not, but it's not oil or gas at any stretch.
