Cairns, Leddy, Stowe, Waterbury, Barre, Highgate, St Albans, Gutterson, Jay Peak, Rutland Mall, Middlebury x2 , Lyndon, Manchester. Morrisville and Milton's ice rinks folded. Where else are there indoor sheets?

"Due to the job's typically low pay and irregular hours, it's a perennial hiring problem"

It's always been a problem, they don't pay enough and it's not a stable job. They didn't even mention what the pay was in the article unless I missed it.

The job is best for retired hockey player. It’s really a great job to have, people leave you alone, you just drive the Zamboni for 20 hrs a week, clean up locker rooms, take out the trash. Much better than being a grocery store clerk if you are just in supplement your pension or SS.

Most rink jobs I’ve seen are unpaid and volunteer. Find it hard to believe with the price of ice time that they can’t afford to pay better. Always said growing up it would be an awesome part time thing to give back to the hockey community, but I gotta pay bills.

Misread the original comment, thought they were saying spartan folded.. phew. Miss playing at Mandingo. Was awesome until the roof leaked at center ice. Brought back a lot of memories of collecting pucks for free Swedish fish, and ripping pucks in the far right corner of the rink.

Damn. As a non-hockey player and father of a young hockey player, I was thinking how cool it would be to drive the Zamboni.

I drove a zamboni last winter season here in VT at one of the rinks listed. It's fun but also not easy.

I didn’t grow up in VT but definitely remember 18 yo rink attendants driving the Zamboni when I was a kid, couldn’t be that hard to learn
