Hi folks - as I'm on a tight budget i'd like to put new lenses in old frames but have been turned away before. Anyone know of an optometrist who wouldn't be offended if I don't buy new frames from them? TIA

Have you considered ordering a new pair from zenni? It would almost certainly be cheaper than getting new lenses.

Never had an issue doing this even at Eyecare of Vermont. Just make sure frames are in good condition and you shouldn't have a problem.

I order my glasses on Zenni, if you already have a prescription you can get a pair for $25.

I’ve had lots of different places do this for me, though not in Vermont. Try looking for a place online that you can mail your frames to if you truly can’t fine anyone locally.

Springfield Family Eyecare if you're anywhere near them; they've done that for me a couple of times now (I like the frames I have!) and they're swell folks

Yeah I kinda figured you were in the Burlington area just because that's how math works but if you'd happened not to be, eh?

I work at chroma optics. If your frame is in good shape we don’t mind doing that at all.

Dr Sobel at Rutland Eye Physicians is great and won’t be hurt if you get your frames elsewhere!
