Hi All,

I'm currently using an indoor tv antenna but it's spotty on some channels and doesn't pick up ABC. I'm going to go with an outdoor one but was curious which transmission tower others aim their antenna at. Closest East looks to be on Mansfield and closest West is Lyon Mountain in NY. Thank you for any info.

Used to have an antenna and pointed it at Mansfield. Worked pretty good. Took it down to paint but never put it back.

There was a fire on Mansfield that impacted the signal strength a few years ago, but not sure if it's been fixed

the standard for this used to be "use antennaweb.com" and it will basically point you to Mt. Mansfield.

Most of the local TV stations (WCAX 3, WPTZ 5, WVNY 22, WNNE 31, WETK 33, WFFF 44) transmit from the summit of Mount Mansfield. The only one that doesn't is WCFE 57 which is located on Lyon Mountain.

The antenna burned in the fire which took 3, 5, and 31 off the air has been replaced and those signals are back at full power.

The ABC station (WVNY 22) transmits on VHF channel 7 (all the others are on UHF) and may benefit from a different (and larger) antenna than what works for the other channels.

Rabbitears.info used to be a good resource, not sure if it still is.

I would head over to /r/cordcutters and see what they have

I’ve had terrible luck getting WVNY with an antenna. WCAX/WPTZ come in really well. The only thing I’ve really missed without WVNY is football. Anyone have a good streaming workaround (preferably without another subscription service)?

Thanks for the info. I tried my indoor antenna upstairs on a different tv and didn't get any better. I'll definitely be getting a better/larger one and may just start it in the attic facing Mansfield for now.

Try using a powered antenna - it helps with attenuation and boosts quality if the fresnel of the broadcasting tower is not completely blocked.
