And those would be fantastic if I was thirty minutes closer to Burlington. Unfortunately, I’m already spending too much time driving to work

It would help a lot if you would tell us all some details, like what type of work you are looking for?

Honestly, my biggest qualification right now is a steady schedule. My current job has had highly variable hours since the pandemic started

Really depends on what type of work, WHERE (local or remote) what skills you have etc. with that info we might be able to give you more targeted help.

And that’s the other struggle. The last seven years, I’ve been a rural mail carrier and I am stumped on any transferable skills I’ve picked up.

It’s a shame what the mail service has become. It used to be a very respectable job. Heck look into banks, I know tellers starting at $21-$26/hr

Pretty positive UPS pays way more than FedEx. Not sure what FedEx gets but all UPS drivers make Over 6 figures after 4 years

Edit: not sure what FedEx gets because it's an entirely different system where rich people buy routes and trucks for FedEx delivery and then subcontract out the work to people willing to do it and pay them less than it's worth. Meanwhile UPS is a single system and a union with negotiation power.

I work at FedEx. Some are making $2000 a week others $800 a week. Depends on the contract.

Oh honey working in a restaurant is WAYYYYY better than being a rural mail carrier. Yes, I've been a rural mail carrier. I've also worked for UPS and I've worked in restaurants/hospitality for 15 years.

I found my latest job and the 5 others I interviewed for before it all in indeed or linkedin. Before that it was all networking with former colleagues. This was all in the engineering field so YMMV.

Regrettably undereducated for engineering. But I’ll take a peek.

indeed.com has a fair number of manufacturing jobs listed, some denoted as “urgently hiring” and many as “entry level.” I suspect the money is better at USPS, but it would get you off the road if that’s your issue.

hockeyschtick t1_j4tk6ij wrote

I don’t know of a restaurant near Woodstock/WRJ that ISNT HIRING. Or mechanics or warehouse staff or cleaners or drivers or anyone. Also the hospitals and biotech in Lebanon NH. It’s kind of getting hard to empathize with people claiming there’s no work right now. Maybe the problem is you?
