A few decades ago a bolt of lightning struck somewhere in France and set off a massive piece of buried UXO left by sappers in World War One. It killed exactly one cow.

In 2014 there was one lightning strike at venice beach, where thunderstorms are freakishly rare. It struck and killed exactly one person (13 others were nearby and were injured by either the strike or the resulting thunderclap).
I lived in a high rise that faced south and saw this lightning bolt.

Makes sense actually, the lightning picked its route and stuck to it. Electricity is lazy like that.
