I mean we all know why he bought it.

He’s mad at Biden for not including Tesla in the White House invite to auto companies.

And the right is mad at Twitter because they banned trump.

So revenge equals buying Twitter and helping the right fuck the left.

The beef started prior to that I mean there is a reason Biden didn't invite Tesla and it's because Elon played footsies with trump and the right and was very vocal with a lot of influence so it's a way to show others that if your gonna run your mouth openly about politics you will not like when shoes is in the other foot kinda a deal

Controlling Twitter means you get to control a large portion of the political and social discourse across the country by allowing which voices and opinions are heard. That in turn allows you to shape the messaging to best serve your economic and political interests.

He made a lot of people a lot of money. Only it was mostly his money and that of banks that deserved to get fucked for dealing with him. If you bought at $30/share when he tried to back out, and sold for $54/share a couple months later, you scored a big profit.

Now, he has already converted the site into another 4Chan, brought back the hate and insults, got the employees ready to bail at the first opportunity, and paid about $200 million in exit money. The conspiracy nuts, racists and haters are all back like roaches moving in on dirty dishes left in the sink. Companies that paid to advertise, like GM don’t want to be associated with that and are putting on the brakes.

After the moderation is gone, the ClownYe and Trumpie bunch fill in, it’s just going to be insults and vile. The $30 billion company he paid $54 billion for will be worth about 1 million, and the servers a ghost town of people that left. The remainders will be pedophiles, pornography peddling skanks, crypto cons, women seeking their true loves, and Q’ers. Wonderful end to a social platform that spun out of control.

I never digged it. But I came from 4chan. At first reddit was like a more controlled 4chan. Since you needed an account it was easier to control the randomness that 4chan can show. But reddit can ban you for stupid reasons and in that sense 4chan is more true. You may see a lot of opinions about a specific topic and they may be manipulated by the mods allowing it or not allowing it at all. 4chan has a boring cesspool for years now. I think reddit compares more to 4chan than digg.

Google is an advertising platform. Twitter is an advertising platform.

The features you list are to engage eyeballs to view the ads, and to collect massive amounts of user data to more efficiently deliver the ads. These increase the advertising rates they can charge.

You mean sentient AI?

Blake Lemoine's claims were dismissed by experts in the field.

Google has good AI research but there are plenty of others. For example, look how many companies have poached or been started by the big brains that kick started google AI. Andrew Ng (Google brain co-founder) or Ian Goodfellow for easy examples.

AI is a field you can buy your way into. Poach smart scientists and buy/rent computing power, then sell your AI product or service. Building a user base is much harder, which is the reason Elon bought Twitter instead of starting new website, to bring this back to original question.

Don’t start that with me. I had a personal blog for over 5 years and a BlackBerry related blog / business for over 12 years. I spent so many hours using google reader daily to get all my news and following my friends. Back in the days, the user selected what he wanted to see and read, now, it’s the opposite, the platform show you what they want you to see or read. I never found a simple tool like google reader again.

I closed my ig and fb a few weeks ago because there is no more interaction with friends and just got tired of it. I got back on Twitter last night.
