I'm looking into buying calls of Palantir before their Q3 on Nov 7th but everything I look up on them is weird, the revenue is up and they say the costs are down yet their net worth has tanked in the last 3 quarters. Am I dumb and burning money on these calls?

Beware…

Palantir is a strong company.

But…a HUGE BUT…

They are one of the most investor unfriendly companies on the planet.

They could have a strong EPS, but they’ve been diluting earnings for years…employee stock compensation.

Ever since their DPO…PLTR management just tells Wall St to fukk off.

They poked the bear.

I keep thinking this after each quarter of missed numbers…they can’t do it again…especially in this brutal environment.

I’ve been a long time PLTR investor, holding heavy bags… but I still have faith in the thesis. This company has the best product in its sector, but it’s not going to have any good plays anytime soon. It’s a long game plan, buy and hold situation. Traditionally, the price will tank on earnings. So take what you will from that.

This is not financial advice.

>No, you are not dumb. Palantir is a data analytics company that has been struggling to achieve profitability since its inception. The company went public through a direct listing in September of 2020 and has seen its stock price decline by over 30% since then. Despite this, the company continues to grow its revenue at a rapid pace and recently announced plans to expand into new markets such as healthcare and insurance. Given these positive indicators, I believe that buying calls on Palantir before their Q3 earnings release could be a profitable investment strategy.

Hey thankyou for the feedback, still a little confused on why it is the way it is, but even before putting up this post I put an order in to buy calls so hopefully Q3 is profitable.

They still need a ton of consultants to deploy their software. Hence the valuation. Also, they dilute as fuck.

Lmao this bot is getting too good. You just had a verbal exchange with it. And the real joke is on me cuz I got 9.50s Friday morning for .3 each. It might run man, I'm thinking it will as everything else does with the lower hike at the fed meeting. And if we tank it could still pop as a bit of a haven, like mentioned before they don't care about the shareholders but they do care about coming out of this downturn in a sprint. Billions on hand to weather the storm and lower quarterly spending/higher revenues has me agreeing. I'm trying to dca some shares at these dirt cheap prices and maybe 4x in 3 years. Solid play in my dumb logic, disconcerting to see it on here tbh. Did I fuck up? 😳

Caveat emptor. Dilution and SBC and insider selling.

Don’t buy calls on anything reporting earnings right now, especially not tech

Palantir is the new wish.

BagholderBaggins t1_iuctb63 wrote

Except they do data analytics mainly for government contracts, and wish sells aunt Becky's hand made shell necklaces through an app they taped together running on 90s servers. But yeah. Oh just don't look at their finances. Wish was a pump n dump cash grab of a shit app selling shit. Palantir don't give a fuck and has billions to burn waiting this thing out. Fukouttahere

Yeah, they are so good that their price is one third of what it was 12 months ago. And they don’t earn as much for their shareholders as their board takes in compensation. Ohh wait, they never generated positive eps.

The usual play with PLTR is to buy calls and sell them just before earnings (it usually drops on earnings) however I don’t know if you’ve heard but we are currently in a bear market.

Look at their net income. They’re BLEEDING cash. Puts I had on them printed last week. Not sure upcoming earnings will be, but I’d guess not great

Nihaohonkie t1_iuc9cso wrote

They have over 2 billion cash on hand. Not sure how this is bleeding cash

MathematicianKey5605 t1_iucc7j3 wrote

Most recent quarter is $75M free cash flow, and -179M net income on 473M revenue. Yeah, that’s called bleeding cash….

Nihaohonkie t1_iucdhoa wrote

They have over 2.4 billion in cash reserves and their operating expenses have increased due to a huge push of new hires and expenses. I’m not saying their financials are solid by any means, but they are not strapped for cash

BagholderBaggins t1_iuctm72 wrote

This. With no new clients, they can operate at these margins and insolvent in almost three years. Meta had 10 billion in reserve and burned 9 of it for comparison. And in like comparison saying this thing is bleeding cash is like saying meta is declaring bankruptcy soon...... yeah but not at all likely. Years of this need to play out.
