$IMAX could go bonkers.

In DEC ‘09 IMAX shares tripled in a short period after the release of Avatar on just 300 screens. On DEC 16th this year Avatar 2 will be released on 1,700 screens globally. This includes almost 800 screens in China, where they haven’t released a Hollywood blockbuster since 2019! DYODD.

Sure, Of course that Chinese people in lock-downs because of their never ending Covid will rally to see a film on the theaters. Good bet.

The fact that yesterday their covid case spikes to an all-time high just like back in April makes this seems very much unlikely.

Avatar1 sold more sold out shows in Imax than any other movie ever. Avatar 2 probably won't do half the business, and the theatres have created their own large format theatres(big D, XD etc.)that will eat into their market share.... just a thought.
