I expected AMD to pump today, but not with those kind of numbers. I guess these days a positive net income is good enough to pump.

Can someone in their right mind take the reins of this bull and take it to the slaughterhouse.

I don't have calls or puts on AMD. I'm just having a hard time understanding where these tech stocks are going? Nasdaq up over 11% in a January?! Rug pull wen?

>It's simple, really. The market is going up because there are more rich people than there used to be, and they're all buying stocks. Poor people can't afford to buy stocks, so they don't matter.

Actually, we poor chumps have been watching. Wages are up, stocks are down and it's good times ahead. Time tospend like we think the rich do.

I think it has to do with them being stable while their main competitor Intel is flushing down the drain faster than blockbuster video.

Intel really disappointed and people were expecting really bad results from amd and later in February from nvidia

I agree with that point. They are gaining a larger share of the market but these numbers are really low IMO.

I agree, I have been following this stock for years. I honestly thought it was under valued and they'd be taking in 10 Billion in revenue by now. On the other hand, Intel's margins are so low it's clear they are selling their products really cheap so that they don't cede their considerable market to AMD. They can't pull that stunt for very long so they either need some kind of technical breakthrough or they're going to have to seriously restructure the company. I see Intel as a dumpster fire and AMD as a stable company a few years away from some accelerated growth. I'm in AMD a bit too much at this point looking for an out (for now).

Aw it's so cute. It thinks the stock market is logical and makes sense. Adorable.

Their growth of more than 40% YOY in server and data center segments

Their chiplet design server CPUs CPU/GPU combos are far beyond anything else in the market. But AMD has many SKUs and compete in many different markets. It would be very misleading to say they are doing great based on just one segment.

It's the segment with the biggest margins, so of course it's enough.

CNBC talked for 20 min about it being a beat on the top and bottom line (that's not what my headlines read out so!?) ... Cramer will pump it again in an hour on mad money, then Lisa Su is on CNBC tomorrow morning. Say what you want about Cramer but for now I'll respect the pump and stay out. CNBC makes bagholders by talking about things that already happened (right before a mean reverse) so I wouldn't expect it to start going down until after the Lisa Su interview tomorrow.

Those gains are trimming quite a bit now... Be interesting to see where it opens tomorrow as AH gains can be pretty misleading. It's a dismal profit for them and their guidance was negative (not as bad as Intel albeit), so I agree the initial 8%+ pump was pretty shocking.
