this is awesome! I've thought of doing smething similar. might be interesting to do a section for museums and/or bar cateogires (dancing/fun drinks) but maybe thats later feature idea!

great work!

Are you trying to keep it strictly to places within DC? Just curious.

Cool! Now add an indicator for which ones will charge you a 20% service for in person and delivery orders! We've already got the data

How would limiting voting to just one choice change the data? Seems to me that allowing voters to choose multiple options, you're basically letting them say "I like these ones", instead of "This one is the best".

This is great, and thank you for putting in the effort! I agree with Hada_L… that it would be cool to have an Ethiopian section as well.

I think this is great. True ground level reviews with active community feedback and participation. Thanks!

Cool idea as searching reviews can be so overwhelming. It'd be nice to be able to also see results on a map. Sometimes you don't care what's the absolute best; you just want something pretty darn good and close.

Your site, but may I suggest DC + metro accessible at least. For example, this sub will overwhelmingly vote Pho 75 the best in that category and it's in Rosslyn

Even the Michelin guide isn't that strict

This is a cool idea, thanks! I second the motion to add Ethiopian and Indian.

I also think It'd be nice to include stuff that's Metro accessible, but not necessarily inside district limits. I absolutely love District Donuts, but I wouldn't want people to miss out on Duck Donuts just because it's in VA.

Indian category? I feel like DC has numerous great spots, both well-known and tucked away

Puerto Rican/Caribbean category?

Qui Qui DC is really good and doesn’t fit in any of the categories.

I'll jump in with (perhaps unpopular) encouragement to keep it to DC-proper only. There are plenty of "DC's bests" lists with half of the recommendations in Maryland or Virginia (which is very frustrating!). I think we hear less about some places truly in DC because the geography of those lists gets so spread out.

Folks who want to see MD/VA places can go to those other lists (to be clear, I'm not snarking on the suburbs, just want to see a DC list that really is just DC).

Thanks for bringing attention to some DC neighborhood favorites!

Three biggest categories missing I think would be Mexican, Italian, and Chinese. I also think a fine dining category would be good.

Agree with that and really glad we have all those in the region. But there are loads of lists that rank the whole area, including suburbs, and we can look at those when we want to venture out of the District (and have a car, want to pay lots of ride fare or spend lots of time on metro and/or bus).

Looks like OP is doing a true District-best rather than a best-of-within-25-miles and want to say I appreciate the approach. Excited to know more about places I can easily walk or bike to in the District!

Good work. Perhaps not enough data but the pizza section having Wiseguy over 2Amys is a joke. Wiseguy is my go late at night but not even close to 2Amys.

Anyone have the original link to this? Looks like the mods took it down for some reason
