Just want to contribute my time and energy as a volunteer for a few hours this weekend. Up for almost anything in DC. Planting trees, teaching ESL, cleaning up Rock Creek. I'll take what I can get. Thanks!

Rock Creek Conservancy has cleanup (invasive plants or trash) events all year round, and so does the Anacostia Watershed Society. Both are well organized, and give volunteers an opportunity to help push back against damage to the parks in meaningful ways.
Ward 8 Woods is my favorite org to volunteer with in DC. Nathan is great and you actually feel like you’re helping a community
Have done both and agreed 100%. Trash cleanups are good but I think getting down in the dirt and ripping up those invasive species is more fun.
The DC Tutor Mentor Initiative has a number of tutoring opportunities available.
Would this be an ongoing availability or just this weekend? Cause there's plenty of non profits that are looking for volunteers but they generally want consistent, long term ones, not just one time drop ins.
Congressional Cemetery does drop in grave clean up throughout the summer but I don't think they've started that quite yet this year.
City Wildlife is always looking for folks, but they generally want long term volunteers. If you've ever wanted to bottle feed a baby squirrel, this is the place lol.

This Saturday there’s an invasive species removal happening at Kingman Island.
DC Family & Youth Initiative works to support youth in and transitioning from foster care. They have more time intensive opportunities like mentoring but you can always sign up to be a “committed community member” and attend monthly events.
