I've built up ingrown hairs on my neck from years of shaving. I wash and exfoliate my face daily, use face lotion with spf, use tend skin daily, switched to a straight edge razor, use pre and post-shave oil, etc. But I still have issues with ingrown hairs from shaving.

Does anyone have any dermatologist or clinic recommendations for ingrown hair removal and prevention/treatment? Preferably a place with black dermatologists / technicians, or that actually has experience with treating black skin.

You should NOT be using a straight edge razor. When you cut the skin at the hairline. Curly hair curls beneath the skin. Black men should not use the same razors as their white counterparts. Posner used to make a razor that had a razor guard over the blades.

Check a beauty supply store. Good luck.

Posner used to make them. Called Bump Fighter. Whatever you do, avoid multiple blade razors 🪒 and any razor without a guard.

You want to cut your hair JUST above the skin. Not at or below the skin.

As a cisgender woman, nothing sexier than stubble so hopefully your woman won’t mind!

What do you use to exfoliate? Retin A should be your go to…dermatologist can help. I use Marjan Yousefi in NoVA.

Dr Burgess at center for dermatology and dermatological surgery is an incredibly smart and incredibly thorough clinician. She is on M st nw. I’m not sure if she takes insurance.

Prevention - recommended a Panasonic electric trimmer. Not a razor. I exfoliate my beard/ chin after every shower with Burt’s bees facial towelettes. Check the area with tweezers.

Hope that helps

Try laser.

If you don’t want to be completely smooth Altreno with a prescription from a doctor is a topical that is amazing.

Also. Highly recommend you see an allergist. If you’re eating things with a high mold content (berries etc) you could be making your own situation worse.
