Hey everybody. I hate to post something like this here. Astound by RCN is making me feel kind of insane.

I've had three outages in three days in NW. Has anyone else noticed a big jump in outages and service lately?

Yes. My internet has been really slow this week and today it keeps going in and out. I work from home and it's making me crazy.

Yep, since this weekend it’s been Astound-ingly bad. One of my neighbors called and got upgraded modems, etc. because they heard that Astound hasn’t upgraded a lot of systems, and now things are better for them. I need to call and do the same.

Fine for me.

That happened to me a few months ago. It happened to be at the same time as competitors were installing services in the building, so maybe that?

I haven’t noticed any issues.

I do need to call them to drop my price though.

Yeah after a very long time with zero issues at all the internet will be super slow or crap out and I'll have to restart the modem to fix it and then it starts up again.

I havent had any issues but they did just jack up my price.

Somewhat unrelated but I encourage folks to negotiate to lower their price!

They have had many outages in the past three years, including some that lasted DAYS. I switched to Starry the moment it was offered in my building.

Yeah, there was a long outage recently in NW. Between the poor service and them continually raising their prices, I don't understand why people recommend them.

My was RCN internet (whatever top-of-the-line package I have) was so slow last week, my Apple TV wouldn't stream Netflix.

To everyone complaining about RCN increasing their rates: keep track of what verizon and other providers are offering in your area (i get frequent fliers) and call RCN to threaten to switch if they don’t roll back your increase. I’m still paying the intro rate i got when i signed up four years ago. this year verizon had a really good offer and i was tempted to dump RCN anyway even after they rolled back the increase, but i got lazy and decided to keep them for one more year.

Ours cuts out all the time in Petworth. Friends in Brookland and Ft Totten have no issues

I switched a few months ago because we had frequent (if short) outages. This started happening around a year or so ago.

I tried to negotiate with RCN after my internet only bill doubled last August (I didn’t really notice until this year due to auto pay). They offered to reduce by $3/mo. I’m switching to Verizon Fios next week.

My only issue with them this week is that they are trying to make me pay $130 for a bill even though I have proof that I don’t owe the money😂 aside from that, internet has not been down for me.
