Yes on the documentation, triple check the list and make sure you have everything you need.

Also, DC is basically a southern city, please and thank you and sir and ma'am will definitely help.

Second everything above. Go as early as possible. Be polite. Have every possible document you’ll need.

I had to wait about 30min when I went, but once I got to someone it was smooth sailing. Went on a non-Friday morning.

In addition to what others said about having your documents, I suggest first going to the SW inspection station, then going to the DMV to get your license and to register your vehicle. You do not need a DC license to get your inspection sticker.

You can get inspection before license/registration - you just run through the center in SW and pay when you visit dmv. The go to any dmv center with all your docs and it should be pretty quick. They’ve improved a ton in the past ten years or so. I last went to Georgetown and there was no wait (weekday afternoon)
