My girlfriend is visiting next week but she is coming from BWI. I donโ€™t wanna take an Uber or Lyft.

Do I just go to union station and buy an Amtrak ticket on the spot? Is that possible?

Are there any other options?

Marc or Amtrak. You can buy on the spot or pre buy

You can also buy either of these options online and have on your phone

There's also the MARC train that goes between BWI and Union; usually you can buy a ticket at the station right before as well

If you download the Charm Pass app on your phone, you can actually buy a ticket as you are sitting on the train.

Amtrak coach seats are going to be only a few bucks higher than MARC fares, if not the same price. But MARC tickets can be used at any time of day for whatever train is most convenient for you. Amtrak is for a specific train at a specific time. If you don't know how long it'll take to get from baggage claim back to the station, I'd go with MARC and maybe Amtrak to drop her off when she leaves.

Amtrak is actually sometimes cheaper than MARC, especially outside of typical rush hours where most businesspeople would travel between NY and DC.

I'd check the landing times at the airport for the flight and build up enough of a buffer for her to get off, get her bags, and take the shuttle over. (I know this from experience since my SO visited me via BWI last year)

You can also download the CharmPass app on your phone and buy your ticket and store it through the app. If you prefer to buy it at the station there are multiple easy to use kiosks right by the exits marked specifically for the Marc Train.

Once you get to the BWI stop you have to take a shuttle bus to get to the airport which is very close by. Something to think about if you take the Marc or Amtrak

Shuttle bus is really quick and does tend to arrive in sync with the trains. However, I agree, you'd still want to factor that in for departure times.

Take Metro to Greenbelt, then get on a bus that goes to BWI. It used to cost $5.
