MPD street bot things

Not local to DC but have recently been commuting there for work; I noticed in some neighborhoods there are these white MPD machines parked on the street that having red and blue flashing lights. I was curious to know what they were and didn’t know what keywords to search on google🙃

They’re basically surveillance towers that get posted on troubled blocks.

They are facial recognition towers. They scan your faces and send alerts to officers of there is a wanted person in the area. Pretty useful

Yeah for sure! 🙃Every time i’ve seen them it’s been when I’m driving past them so I didn’t take a picture
