Hello! I am new to the area and would like to make some friends. I am hoping to join a few book clubs and am looking for recommendations. My reading taste is all over the place but lately I have been really into fantasy. Any suggestions?

Lost City in Adams Morgan has a speculative fiction book club and a large selection in the store, try that! https://www.instagram.com/p/CpLnskcOLR4/ Solid State Books also has a sci-fi & fantasy book club. And of course both of these shops have a lot of other book club options. I love Politics and Prose but their website says their book clubs are still online only, not certain if that’s true for all

The Washington Science Fiction Association is sort of a sci-fi/fantasy book club. They meet in members homes in the DMV twice per month. It might not be exactly what you're looking for, as I don't think they schedule individual books to discuss, but it is where fans and writers gather to discuss recent books in the genres. They also run a yearly convention, but I haven't been to one since the Disclave where they literally destroyed several floors of a hotel.

Solid State Bookstore has an ongoing sci-fi/fantasy bookclub. Some meetings are in person, occasionally online. But they've been going solid for a while
