I heard gunshots outside of Tenleytown and I am wondering if anyone else heard them.

Time: ≈8:30pm

location: direction of Fort Reno, I was located across the street from the "Earle Douglass park" on Reno road about 3 blocks away

I heard 6 shots with a 15-20 second pause followed by 5

sirens shortly after

I have no frame of reference for how close it was but it sounded quite close in the direction of Tenleytown

I now have another source who heard it as well from 0.7 miles out near chevy chase circle and agrees with the shot pattern

I have heard those groups before those things are quite loud I don't think I heard any of those things this time but I may have just tuned it out.

I also heard it walking the dog on Nevada Ave. Agreed it sounded like gunshots, quickly followed by sirens.

I’m a half block from Ft Reno and they were definitely in this vicinity - I heard them loud and clear in the same pattern. There was also a group of dirt bikes going around beforehand. They had been going up and down Wisc Ave a few times tonight - back and forth btw Tenleytown and Friendship, not just passing through. I’m shocked there hasn’t been more chatter on Twitter or Nextdoor

There’s one particular group that purposely backfires their ATVs and it can sound like gunfire. I think that’s what this person was suggesting.

I’d fully believe gunshots, but also I lived next to a place where the ATV asshats used to love to ride, and you could hear it for 5 mins before and 5 mins after they went past.
