Hey! This may not be the best place to post this but I figured I’d give it it a shot. I’m a young gay male, 23 years old, been living in DC for almost two years now but still haven’t made very many friends, especially not very many gay friends. I don’t really enjoy clubbing or going out to bars (nothing wrong with that just not my vibe). I much rather prefer a more introverted kind of approach to life: reading, writing, going to cafes or the movies, walking around aimlessly and just chatting, that sort of thing. If anyone wants to hit me up just to talk and hang I would love that. Peace ✌️

Second this. Their food sucks but they have fun drag shows, story time for kids, tasty drinks and a good vibe.

Solid State Bookstore runs some book clubs. Maybe you can read and make friends by joining one? I haven’t tried any of them (busy with a book club at my work atm) but they’re on my “Maybe Someday” list of things to do

If you’re into running or walking (or would be down to give it a try), I would recommend DC’s premier running club, the DC frontrunners. I joined this year and it’s been great!

Hope you find your people here. Thankfully, DC has a large and vibrant LGBTQ+ community.

yes this! most of my gay male friends met other gay men through a sport. A lot met through a queer religious community too.

You should checkout Meetup for some groups in the area that meet up regularly. It’s a great way to meet people! Also I know Go Gay DC hosts a lot of events like brunch and coffee chats. Again- found them through Meetup. And as mentioned above, As You Are on 8th street is a great space to meetup and chill.

If you enjoy board games/RPGs, I know there are some “gaymer” groups around here on Meetup.

Mr Henerys on Penn Ave has a boozy board game night with labyrinth game store (or they did before COVID I’m not sure if it’s back) the game store would bring tons of games and show you how to play ones you’re interested in. Good vibes, tasty burgers. Not exactly a gay event but absolutely queer friendly and very welcoming.

Yeah, it’s been back for a couple months to the best of my knowledge. Definitely a very welcoming event.

Hey, moving to DC next month and I'm older (32), but a big fan of introverted activities. If you ever want a movie buddy, always a fan of watching old or new movies.
