Did anybody go to the weird Al concert at the Kennedy center last night?

I cannot be the only one who was quite surprised and disappointed to learn that the show was just original songs and no covers (except the medley at end).

The listing on Kennedy center said nothing about this and it is in tiny letters on his own site. I don't know why he chose to do a tour like this but I definitely feel a bit scammed... Would not have bought tickets to see a show of songs I didn't know at all.

The acoustics were also quite bad from my seats on the side, which were at a terrible angle.

This disclaimer is the very first thing you see on the tour website:

> Please note: this is a scaled-down tour with limited production (no costumes, props, or video screens) in smaller theatres and more intimate settings, and Al’s setlist will be comprised almost entirely of his original (non-parody) songs.

Not to mention the tour is literally called "The Unfortunate Return of the Ridiculously Self-Indulgent Ill-Advised Vanity Tour." Did you not see that and even get the least bit curious to google what was so ill-advised and vain before you spent money on tickets?

I'm not sure what else you could have expected.

I just assumed it was because he's old and is making fun of bands like rolling stone who keep touring forever

I went to the show last night and had a blast, but yes, the acoustics were terrible. I wore earplugs to block the bass and could at times not hear Al very clearly at all, with or without earplugs.

Re: the songs, it was on the Kennedy Center listing when you bought the tickets:

As before, rather than focusing on the hits from his career, the show will feature Yankovic’s non-parody material – the somewhat more obscure pastiches and original songs that have largely escaped the pop culture radar but are adored by his long-time fans.

I do see it now, stuck into the middle but you are right it is there, after the 2 paragraphs of accolades. It also mentions no costumes etc.

His songs are never covers. They are parodies.

Damn, I wish I had known about it. Al's non-parody songs are great!

Some of them I love but he didn't even play my favorites. I thought I knew all his albums but I only knew a quarter of the original songs (does he have full albums of originals only)?

Lies! He played Albuquerque, which is very much one of his parodies.

That was one of the few songs I knew, but it is definitely not a parody..... What song is that lol

Dick’s Automotive by the Rugburns. Wiki article another poster below says it’s just “in the style” of the Rugburns, but I’d say it’s extremely in the style of that particular song.

My favorite is Buy Me a Condo. If he played that I'd ultimately be cool with it.
