Long story short, I left my bag with my passport, birth certificate, social sucurity card, airline id, pilots license and more important stuff that would have took months to recollect on the bus by mistake. Without the help of a passing bus driver it could have been gone for good. I was able to locate it and retrieve my bag within a few hours.

Thank you

Why do you keep all of your important stuff like that in a single bag that you carry with you?

The bus arrival app is pretty useful. I've had some less than positive things to say about WMATA but that's great- glad you got everything back

I know nothing about being a pilot, but under what circumstance does a pilot need their birth certificate (if they have their passport with them)?

If you have Twitter you should tweet this to the new GM (@WMATAGM) as he seems to be very big on recognizing employees who go above and beyond.

Glad you have everything back!

That's a lot of important things to have on you though, do you need all of that daily?

As someone dealing with identity theft right now, I HIGHLY recommend you go start putting protection in place just in case. You're probably fine but you don't want to risk it:

You prob don't need to go crazy freezing everything, but IMO i'd at least freeze the credit and go register for the critical accounts now (social security, IRS, all 3 credit agencies). You don't want someone to beat you to it.

You want to create an account with the irs, social security, etc so the account us first in your name, email, phone number. If a scammer does it first it could get quite complicated to fix and more damage could be done

So, I think you really want to say "Thank you [person]." Because WMATA is not great with getting stuff back, or keeping you safe, or keeping metro clean, or ... whatever. It is systematically problematic, even though some of its employees are awesome.
