As an almost 15 year resident of our fair city, I am struggling to understand how so many of my fellow DC residents are being shut down for simply stating that we feel less safe in our daily lives? I understand that with social media we might just have more information regarding the crime that has always existed around us, but the city seems to me to have taken a turn towards more random violent crimes rather than the snatch ang grab/ car window robberies we are used to (I say this as someone who has street parked since 2010 and replaced 6 or 7 windows).
To me and most of my friends the city feels scarier than it has in the last ten years, more unpredictable. I think that it is reasonable for those of us who feel this way to voice our opinions. Anecdotal evidence is still evidence and it is what we are seeing every day. Whether it can be discussed on the internet without turning into a political quagmire is another thing but these reddits should be the vox populi, and the people ( some people not everyone but that's ok!) feel this way.

Edit: Thank you all for the discussion, its like good therapy progress, we must first learn how to communicate with each other before we can say anything of substance. I know its hard but can we be curious instead of angry?
