618, which somebody recommended, isn’t nearly as good as it used to be. They charge $15-20 for entry, are poorly ventilated, and charge you for water! But it will scratch that social dance itch.

Every third Thursday, there is a social at La Cosecha, geared primarily to On2 dancers but friendly to all. It’s my favorite one.

For bachata, I love Tokyo Pear Thursday’s. It is more sensual bachata, but they still play traditional and salsa. Also on Thursday, Sauf Haus and 12 after 12 have socials, but they aren’t nearly as good.

Every other Sunday is Salsa Underground, which is one of the best socials. Keep an eye out for monthly socials like Ya Tu Sabe and Viva La Bachata. DCBX does “no work Monday” socials on long weekends which are usually a blast.

Wednesday, Public bar is your best bet.

When it gets warmer, Dancing on the Waterfront is fantastic, and they also play Zouk + Kizomba.

I can’t in good faith recommend Salsa with Silvia. They had a teacher that assaulted multiple friends of mine, and he finally got fired after a ton of bad Yelp reviews. Then this past weekend, they brought the team from his new studio to perform! It sucks bc they are the most accessible studio, so no judgment for going there, but I always like to let people know. For learning, I would either go with EJ Santana or Baila DC. For bachata, you can’t beat Ferocity in Falls Church.

Yikes, I came back to this thread to see if anyone had more suggestions and had no idea about this at all because the instructor in question isn't one I've taken classes with though I remember seeing the name around - I'm reading up on it on Yelp, and especially Silvia's responses to some of the accounts, and it's disturbing. Thanks for mentioning this.

What gets me is that they finally took action, and we all felt good about it— then they invite the team he trains and choreographs to perform?! Again, they’re the most accessible studio, so I do not judge people for going there. But it is disappointing.
