Thank you!!
Do not go to psychiatric institute of Washington. Google the news stories, it is not safe. I took my friend there for a voluntary admission and it was a nightmare.
Wow, the Google reviews are heartbreaking.
Yep. I know someone who went there for detox. Bad experience and definite abuse and neglect at the least but also unsafe and potentially violent situations. So sad.
Sibley
I second Sibley.
I’m of no help here. But best wishes….
Suburban hospital IMO.
If you are ever in immediate crisis before getting to a treatment facility, 988 is the new national suicide and crisis hotline.
MedStar Washington Hospital Center has a psych unit. I haven’t heard much about it though. The only downside I know of is the ER wait times.
They do involuntary also. I wouldn’t recommend them. Sibley is the best.
Shepard Pratt in Baltimore if you can get up there

There are several previous threads on this subject. This is the most recent: https://www.reddit.com/r/washingtondc/comments/wqojib/emergency_mental_health_services/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button
(Figured this was faster in an emergency than waiting for people to reply, especially as many may be asleep).
Good luck!
