West End or south Dupont. Depending on where you are, you can have a less than 10 minute walk both to the blue line (convenient once the Potomac Yard station opens) and the red line. You can use Farragut West or Foggy Bottom for the blue line or Farragut North or Dupont for the red line. And easy transfers between them from Metro Center.

That said, somewhere near Metro Center could also be a good option. I think Cleveland Park or anywhere along the red line could be fine if you're driving but might be a lot of Metroing with the schedules lately.

That sounds like a miserable life. I’d try to figure out which of those two is most likely to be the one you can drop/change/move first.

If you feel you have to drive and you’re not going out much, what’s the benefit of being in DC? I haven’t mapped it but I I can’t imagine it would save any time.

For the weekends I suppose. And just an opportunity to experience city life. Lived in Arlington in the past and would like to change it up

If I needed to be in Rockville most evenings at 7pm, I think I would live in Rockville.

As much as I love living in the city, what you’ve described doesn’t sound like fun or sustainable.

Seconding this - I would hate having to commute in the evening. Mornings are more bearable than the evening (at least IMO)

Are you driving to both of these locations and/or using public transit?

whichever would be faster. I will have a car, but I figured driving to Rockville from Nova (actually have done that in the past) would be a nightmare in afternoon/evenings.

Cleveland park would work for that. But as you know any solution would be sub-optimal. The two places you need to be aren't close to each other.
