Depart IAD on UA 989 on a Thursday evening. Arrive FRA, take a high speed ICE train south to Baden Baden (90 minutes), check into hotel, and be in the spa by noon. Return via UA 988 on Sunday or Monday.

Travel to the airport
Go through ticketing, airport security, wait at the gate for a...
8-9 hour International flight
Go through customs or passport checkpoint
Take a 90 minute train
Travel to hotel/spa

All for a spa that has about the same amenities as King Spa in Chantilly, VA or Spa World in Centreville, VA

Does this sound worth it to anyone else?

You've never been to a German spa. You've definitely never been to a German spa (bath...Bad) town like Baden Baden, although there are nicer ones in Germany, Austria, and especially Switzerland and France.
