I’m looking to reserve a sort of spa day, a massage, maybe manicure, etc. Not necessarily a full package or whole weekend stay but a few services could be nice. Has anyone had good experiences with these types of offerings in DC or around the DMV area in general?

I’ve never done this type of thing before, much less in DC. But I think I’d like to end the year right with some relaxation. Any input is appreciated!

Spa Logic near DuPont Circle. Check Groupon for specials on a package with a facial, massage, and a mani-pedi. Add on services and upgrades are available at a discount upon request, but they didn’t try to sell me anything.

I’m not a spa person, but I’ve been there a few times and always feel comfortable. Tips are not included in the package, but the front desk has envelopes and will know the name of each person who provided services to you. I mention that because by the time I finished I was very relaxed and could not remember the name of the first person I saw. Wherever you go, enjoy some time to relax!

Anybody been to both Kings spa and Spa world and can explain the differences?

At Spa World, the big soaking pools are separated by gender and you're naked

At King's Spa, you wear a bathing suit and their soaking pool is outside. King's Spa has more sauna rooms or salt sauna rooms.

I'd say that's the main difference.

Both offer delicious food, both have ice rooms, both offer the full body scrub service.

The Kimpton Lorien in old town Alexandria has a wonderful spa, and you can also get a day-use room if you want extended lounging time, or stay for a regular overnight stay.

Depart IAD on UA 989 on a Thursday evening. Arrive FRA, take a high speed ICE train south to Baden Baden (90 minutes), check into hotel, and be in the spa by noon. Return via UA 988 on Sunday or Monday.

(I use to do this 1-2x a year.)

  1. Travel to the airport
  2. Go through ticketing, airport security, wait at the gate for a...
  3. 8-9 hour International flight
  4. Go through customs or passport checkpoint
  5. Take a 90 minute train
  6. Travel to hotel/spa

All for a spa that has about the same amenities as King Spa in Chantilly, VA or Spa World in Centreville, VA

Does this sound worth it to anyone else?

You've never been to a German spa. You've definitely never been to a German spa (bath...Bad) town like Baden Baden, although there are nicer ones in Germany, Austria, and especially Switzerland and France.
