Social sports are huge, especially kickball. But I also made some good friends in the bocce league.
Players club and the Board Room are both game bars that fit the vibe
Check out capital hiking club. Weekly with bus from downtown to the mountains, well organized with variety of friendly folks
DC is a happy hour/drinking town. That's just reality. Outside of that, maybe some sports clubs, but then that's mostly bar-based as well after the games. Not sure what to suggest for you here.
Best bars then for a younger crowd? I’m asking if there are social groups for people in their early 20s. I listed a few hobbies as examples
The mass majority of bars/clubs in the city are packed with 20 year olds. Start at mission navy yard or takoda
Haha I had already planned to check out Navy Yard next weekend with a friend, but I’ll check out Takoda too
Have you been to Dan’s café yet? Everyone here constantly raves about the place.

The traditional dream of being “hit on” by “going to a certain place” probably won’t happen.
Try and join mixed gender fitness classes, book clubs, or gardening groups, like you said. Something that will help you meet a guy with culture and personality. Not just someone who does the bare minimum of working sleeping and consuming alcohol.
Lmk if you find anything, I want/need more friends

The advice I saw on here and chose to follow was to look for some type of classes to sign up for. There are a bunch of different options at Glen Echo park. The one I’ve taken so far was small and mostly middle aged people so I didn’t really make new friends, but it’s a cool way to learn something new and maybe meet someone else in their 20s if you take the right one.
If I sign up for more I’ll probably look for someplace in the city where there’s more likely to be a younger crowd. I just went with Glen Echo because they had something specific I was interested in that’s hard to find anywhere closer.
