Edit: RESOLVED, train service restored. See MrSpontaneous' comment below, or direct link here: https://www.reddit.com/r/washingtondc/comments/zykshc/comment/j26r4rz/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3

No explanation given on-site. Everyone was instructed to get off our train and all incoming train trackers switched to DLY. People were then asked to leave the station.

Safe travels to everyone.

I'm currently on the Blue Line in front of Foggy Bottom. Currently reversing to Farragut West.

Fire at Foggy Bottom station.

“Requested”. Good luck, everyone.

Closed coming in from VA too. Just instructed our train was going to reverse at courthouse due to an issue at the next station.

Yeah it was such an abrupt evacuation-type of exercise. Police all outside the metro station and more arriving as I type.

Looks like they were trying to block one of the roads, so avoid the area if you can.

A lot of police activity today in general, I was driving through NOVA and every 2 miles I just saw a squad of police cars blocking off roads

There's a lot of fire trucks at Farragut West on the 17th street side. I just got on a bus at Connecticut and L and saw all the lights.

Just received a DC Alert text message and email referencing that. The reason indicates Fire Department activity. So perhaps a fire somewhere?

Oh that sounds useful, is it this alert system or is there another one too? I'll sign up

Thank you for the link!! San Francisco uses the Nixle Alerts and I signed up for some DC stuff through them (mainly just parks and rec updates) almost 2 years ago and thought it was stupid that they didn't fully utilize that type of system. I'm signing up for this one now.

Um, actually how do I add a subscription? Like what do I add? It doesn't find anything with zip code entered in the search. 😅🤔

Updating that I registered on the website as it didn't let me in app. Realized that it actually is Nixle. I then managed to link my phone number to the app and my San Francisco subscriptions showed up, but none of the ones that I just subscribed to for DC on the website did. It doesn't let me login in the app. Help? The FAQ doesn't tell me how to login. 🙃

As well as other emergencies. You’ll also see them on scene for medical emergencies and other non-fire related things.

I’m always too late to catch this site before the fire gets put out. What’s it look like during an active fire?

Just was at McPherson and they were calling to “evacuate the station” but didn’t close the entrance so people were still entering

Any updates on busses? I'm just gonna bite the bullet and take Uber to Springfield, haha.

SayJayde t1_j26jyes wrote

Not sure if you're still out there, but a few busses did arrive. I just left in an Uber. Stay safe!

Edit: Whoops sorry, I misread and thought you were at Foggy Bottom. Disregard!

Sorry I ended up just leaving and didn’t hear much about busses :/
