Hi! I am looking to get my Grandpa a gift for Christmas from around DC. He really likes Belgian and other European beers, is there anywhere in DC that sells cans or bottles? Or any take-home purchases?

Since you opened it up to DMV:

*Craft Beer Cellar DC on H St NE

*Planet Wine in Alexandria

*K-1 Beer and Wine in Arlington

*Fenwick Beer and Wine in Silver Spring

*Downtown Crown way out in Gaithersburg

There are many more, lots of places import Belgian beers. If you haven't already I'd figure out whether he likes sours or not.

Total Wine out in McLean if you don't mind the trek. They have an enormous selection of beers that nobody in the District can really compete with.

Hop Cask and Barrel (Georgetown) has a good selection, especially the lambic style beers which are uniquely Begian. Also the standard Delerium/Brouwerij Verhaeghe selection.

Budweiser was bought by a Belgian brewer a few years back (along with a TON of other American breweries). Does that count?

Cleveland Park Wine and Spirits. Whole Foods has decent Belgium beer in stock most times, too. Total Wine & More, has a very extensive selection.

Delirium Cafe has two locations. Brussels, Belgium and Leesburg, VA.

I have been to both and while nothing compares to the original the one here is a lot more accessible :)

You could visit the Leesburg location and get some pretty cool stuff for your grandpa. However, if he lives anywhere in the DMV area my suggestion would be to take the time and take him there yourself. I bet he would think that's the best present. Happy holidays!

I’ve never been to that one, but I found the Ballston location—very close to the Orange Line—kind of lacking in beer selection. It’s way smaller than most locations.

Even Whole Foods has Belgians. Look at the warm aisle next to the cold aisle

Brasserie Beck, Granville Moore, Belga Cafe, The Sovereign will probably sell you bottles from their selection. But if you cant find what you want there

Rodmans, MacArthur Beverage, Craft Beer Cellar, Sherry's, Harry's Reserve, Magruders, and Calvert Woodley all should have options.

I dont know outside of the restaurants how many of them sell singles.

Cleveland Park Wine and Spirits has a decent selection and the staff has always been able to help me find exactly what I'm looking for - never been disappointed yet!
Also gonna second Sherry's in Woodley Park! They have an unbelievable amount of options.

cannot believe the Sovereign hasn’t been mentioned yet. absolutely insane cellar and bottle list and routinely do specific brewer events. 10/10 for a belgian beer lover.

Total Wine near Ballston is fairly easy to get to. I know for a fact that they have a decent Belgian selection!
