The posts I found on this were a few years old so I wanted to ask again -

I’m a first time owner in a co-op. Can anyone offer advice on how much to tip the office staff and cleaning staff for the holidays?

I’m in a small building with only two staff members: Door person — $150-$200 depending on what they do for you. Custodian — $100.

How do I tip alllll the staff in my building? Theres a lot of people and no way Id be able to track them down individually. Is it weird if I leave an envelope full of cash at the front desk for everyone?

Email the building manager/rental agent. You don’t need to tip the rental agent though (maybe a bottle of wine if they’ve really gone above and beyond beyond)

Depends on size of building number, number of staff and your interactions. 100 to 250, depending on how many there are. Staff really varies depending on how many.

Our coop (small building of 30 units or less) pooled tipping for the holidays for our building front desk personnel. Guidance provided was typically double the shares of your unit or more. For example our unit was 1000 sq ft or so and we tipped $300ish

When I lived in an apartment, I tipped front desk $100 for full time and $40 for the part time people. Maintenance was $100 for the team since I tipped at point of service. Especially when it was something dumb I'd done.

For a co op, I'd say go in as a group as someone suggested. Saves the stigma of who didn't tip for whatever reason and while a bunch of $50 envelopes is nice, $1000 cash is nicer.

Our condo pooled holiday tips using the DC-based service GiveButter. Easy to donate and it has options to stay anonymous.
